Mini tripods

Mini Tripods are a fairly new phenomenon. They are a smaller, lighter and more affordable option to the normal tripod. These tripods are usually available relatively cheaply, and come in a variety of styles. These tripods cannot be extended to be taller than their original height, so cannot completely replace an ordinary tripod. However, there are various uses for the mini tripods that the average tripod cannot complete with.

Gorilla tripods are a kind of mini tripod with bubbly, molecular structured legs that are extremely flexible.
They can grip onto surfaces easily and can be used to take pictures at a wide variety of angles.
This is a fun sort of mini tripod that can test your imagination and let you take pictures anywhere.

There are also flexible mini tripods that also have very bendable legs. Like gorilla tripods, their legs can be bent at countless angles and they can also lie flat on the ground. They may not have the funky, sci-fi appearance of the gorilla tripods, but they can have the same functionality.

Tabletop tripods are actually a smaller version of the ordinary tripod. Although the legs cannot be extended to a greater height, they still work just like an average sized tripod. Just like the name, these tripods are used best on a higher surface. These types of tripods come in useful in places with very little walking place, such as a crowded house or office. Some of these tripods have an extendable center rod to give them some additional height.

Mini tripods come at an amazing range of prices. Some of these can cost even less than a memory card, while others from good brands tend to range to a higher price. Mini tripods come in all shapes and sizes, and are easy to pack into your camera bag.

Mini tripods, while offering a range of options for your photography, do have some drawbacks. The most important one is that they cannot be extended to the height of an ordinary tripod, hence they cannot be placed directly on the floor to enable the camera to take pictures from the average height. Another drawback is that mini tripods usually do not have a very high payload, which means they cannot hold cameras that are very heavy.

All in all, mini tripods are for both the fun loving and technical photographers who like to take pictures that are slightly out of the box. They are also great for smart phone photography, and a must have for all the budding photographers who use their smart phone cameras.
